Stevie Lynne is a multi-talented and multi-faceted artist who has tapped into the realm of suffering, grief, loss, forgiveness and ultimately, redemption, in the most compelling way. Likewise, her provocative lyrics often force us to delve into the deepest recesses of our own existence, in order to find a sense of renewal and understanding of who we truly are within. Her writing style is quite sultry and raw, giving the listener insight into the woman herself. With a hauntingly smoky voice, Stevie often sings her songs as a writer puts pen to paper, drawing for us visuals of the message she wants to convey with every lilting note.
Possessing a brutal honesty and wisdom, Stevie manages to impart to us the reality of relationships and life in general: the highs, the lows and even the failures that each of us endures. She often draws from her own personal experiences, giving us such introspective songs like "Liars," and "Love Good." And more often than not, she gives us personal accounts of the struggles most of us never dream about sharing with anyone, such as the song, "Shovel." The music video itself showcases her ability to also create moving images out of her song lyrics, translating her thoughts onto the screen, depicting for us the unforgiving manner in which we tend to cope with the harsh realities of life. And how sometimes, we become our own worst enemies.
Stevie Lynne has often been compared to singer/songwriters such as Sara Bareilles, Stevie Nicks and Ingrid Michaelson. Not surprising considering that many of these artists have inspired her musical style. Additionally, her jazzy singing style is reminiscent of classic (and sassy) vocalists like Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald. Her influences also include a diverse group of musical artists such as: Micheal Buble, Nina Simone, Adele, Mumford & Sons and Norah Jones, and she's allowed these talented musicians to help shape her music into a style all her own.
Overall, Stevie Lynne has been moved to write, compose and sing because of one overwhelming desire: To reach out to others through music, letting them know they are not alone. She believes that life is truly a journey. Although we may meet adversity along the way, there is always a light at the end of every tunnel. Allow yourself to close your eyes and get lost in the story of life she so artfully tells through her lyrics, her voice and her music.
